Key Responsibilities in Technical Operations
Routine Operations (BAU):
- Maintain a steady supply of high-quality products by ensuring seamless communication with key stakeholders.
Event Coordination & Issue Resolution:
- Oversee supplier-related events and manage root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to handle non-conforming products, quarantine shipments, and follow up on complaints, ensuring timely resolution.
Data Management & Analytics:
- Take ownership of Management Information Systems (MIS) and conduct trend analysis for critical quality parameters.
Technical Enhancement Initiatives:
- Implement process improvements and technical trials at supplier facilities to support operational objectives in India while aligning with divisional standards.
Supplier Development Projects:
- Lead initiatives to develop alternative suppliers, including localization efforts and qualification projects.
Cost Optimization & Quality Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and work with Analytical Research & Development (ANRD) and QA teams to enhance quality systems, GMP compliance, and operational efficiency.
Supplier Collaboration:
- Foster strong working relationships with supplier teams in Planning, Purchasing, Finance, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Supply Chain, and Logistics.
Risk Management:
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize supply disruptions caused by technical or quality-related issues.
Supplier Documentation & Compliance:
- Manage documentation processes related to supplier oversight, including change management and internal audits.
Sensory Evaluation & Supplier Training:
- Develop and execute annual sensory evaluation plans for supplier development, audits, and maintenance of ingredient suppliers.
- Train and qualify sensory panels, ensuring panelists' proficiency through blind testing.
- Support lab qualification, panel training, and sensory process improvements at supplier facilities.
- Conduct refresher training and sensory panel qualification at supplier locations, tracking performance and reporting via MIS.
Sensory Collaboration & Dispute Resolution:
- Organize sensory calibration workshops and training sessions with supplier teams to align with industry expectations.
- Maintain and periodically update reference samples.
- Mediate sensory-related disputes between suppliers and production facilities.
Quality Assessment & Consumer Complaint Management:
- Participate in internal sensory evaluations for finished products, raw materials, and packaging materials.
- Support new product initiatives (NPI) by assisting in prototype development and internal sensory assessments.
- Analyze and address consumer complaints related to sensory attributes, working with suppliers to enhance sensory quality.
- Develop and maintain sensory-related documentation, including Laboratory Management Manuals (LMM) and Ingredient Control Standards (ICS).
Minimum Qualifications
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or Dairy Technology.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in supplier development, technical services, supplier quality assurance, plant operations, or sensory management.
- Hands-on expertise in manufacturing food ingredients such as maltodextrin, edible oils, sugars, micronutrients, and nutritional powders, with a focus on quality assurance and process improvement.
- Additional experience in micro-contaminant analysis, processing and packaging technologies, spray drying, dry blending, traceability, and line clearance is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, data analytics proficiency (Power Platforms), and presentation skills are essential.
